When was the last time you knew God was asking you to accept a challenge and your initial reaction wasn’t apprehension? Even when we’re sure the prompting comes from God, not a human source, we may wonder, “How can I possibly?”
Though we’d done years of ministry, when this new call came to my husband and I to extend our borders to unfamiliar regions, I know I wasn’t so keen on walking through that door. After all, when the promptings started, we were in the aftermath of several traumatic events in quick succession. Even so, we accepted each opportunity on faith. Then the momentum quickened.
In a few short years God has sent us, with this newly developed message of hope in loss using gifts and talents He’s been honing over decades, to the following, so far: men’s prisons, a Communist country, a Muslim country, an island steeped in voodoo worship, and disaster sites to meet strangers facing life after tragedy has ripped away their dreams.
God says, “Consecrate yourselves, keep listening to My Spirit, follow wherever I take you–as anointed ones.
I will show you…” Whereupon, we witness Him do His work through us again and again.
